Distance Learning – Online Programs

Reading Classes
There are two reading classes available: one for adults who struggle to "get the word off the page" and another for adults who can read but do not understand everything they read. Family Learning Class
WHAT? Family Learning Program
- parent and child time with childhood experts
- parents with a parenting specialist
- parents work on their own learning goals with a teacher of adults to study for GED or English Language, for example.
WHO? Any parent with a child or children, 6 months to kindergarten age, U.S. born or immigrants - all are welcome.
WHERE? Early Childhood Family Education (ECFE) at Discovery Elementary, 301 2nd Ave NE, Buffalo.
WHEN? Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10 am-2 pm, September through May.
WHY? (As described by a parent participant) Family Learning is an interesting, fun and friendly place where parents gain information they want about the upbringing and development of children. In turn, children develop emotional, affective capacity, in addition to learning social skills and participating in different activities such as: playing, drawing, painting, music, dancing and making crafts which help to develop children's creativity, imagination and school readiness.
