Portrait of a Graduate

The Buffalo-Hanover-Montrose School Board adopted the district's Portrait of a Graduate in the fall of 2023.

The framework on the poster above outlines the AVID Essential Skills that BHM students should acquire during their PreK-12 school years, regardless of the path they choose to take after graduating. Within the framework are clear descriptions of what it looks like to achieve each element of the plan from preschool through 12th grade. See the "PreK-12 Descriptors" document below.

The Portrait of a Graduate complements the district’s strategic plan, adopted in 2015, that sets broad goals in terms of life skills, whole child investment, pathways and engagement by defining what the pursuit of these goals will look like in a more practical manner.

Furthermore, measurement tools have been identified to gauge progress along the way. Data collection began in the 2023-24 school year to identify strengths and areas of need, and adjustments will be made as necessary.
