Backpack Buddies program supports student nutrition

Centra Sota Cooperative contributes donation

The wRight Choice Backpack Buddies program provides supplemental meals and snacks for BHM students over the weekends and extended school breaks, free of charge.

But funding for those meals must come from somewhere, and a recent donation by Centra Sota Cooperative highlighted the key role that individuals and businesses in the community can play by supporting hungry students.

Centra Sota Cooperative recently helped the program stock up for the holiday break with a donation of nearly $2,250.

"We wanted to extend a 'thank you' to Centra Sota Cooperative workers who volunteered their time to pack food bags for BHM students over the weekends and extended school breaks," said wRight Choice lead teacher Nate Hanson. "Nutra Blend, its customers and suppliers wanted to help give back to our local communities."

Funding for the wRight Choice Backpack Buddies program is provided through grants from the Wright County Area United Way, and other generous donations. The program also partners with the Buffalo Food Shelf, Second Harvest Heartland, and Buffalo Cub Foods to ensure the backpacks are filled each week during the school year.

How to donate:
