Special guests highlight Orchestra Camp
Orchestra students from BCMS and BHS gathered for the second annual Summer Orchestra Camp from July 10-14. In addition to working in large and small groups, students enjoyed a special guest each day. The guests performed classical, folk, jazz and pop music, and talked to the students about their work. The guests included a violist from the Minnesota Orchestra, a professional freelance cellist, and an electric violin duet.
In addition to the musical performances, students spent time with a luthier from The House of Note who showed the students the various woods and glues that are used in the making of stringed instruments. The luthier also demonstrated the process of rehairing a violin bow.
This weeklong camp was under the direction of Kristine Wiese and Maddie Eicher, orchestra directors at BHS and BCMS, respectively.
