The middle school years are a great time to explore and become involved in school-sponsored sports and activities. The BCMS activities program is designed to help students have fun, develop new friendships, advance skill levels, and have a challenging and rewarding experience. The coaches and advisors share an appropriate philosophy toward the mental and physical well being of the middle school child. Students should consider being in several sports and activities throughout their middle school years.
Spring Sports Information 2024-25
Buffalo Community Middle School offers the below spring athletics for 7th and 8th grade students:

Registration Information
Registration for spring athletics can be done online through the Campus Parent Portal via the School Store. The cost to participate is $80.
All students participating in athletics must have a current Sports Qualifying Physical on file with the Activities Office. Physical exams are valid for 3 years from the date of the physical. Physical forms are available in the Activities Office and it is also linked below.

Monday, March 24 - Practices Begin for all Sports EXCEPT Golf
Information regarding the start date of golf will be emailed out as soon as the information is available.
Additional Information regarding the first day of practices will be emailed to parents/guardians on Friday, March 21. Please contact the Activities Office with any questions.
Golf Limited Registration and Information
Due to space constraints, only 50 students will be able to participate in golf this season. Registration will be completed on a first-come first-served basis. If your student is interested in participating in golf, please sign them up as soon as you are able.
The start date of golf is dependent on weather and course conditions. Once the start date is confirmed, an email will be sent to all registered students' parents/guardians.
On the first day of practice students will choose between two practice schedules, Tuesday/Thursday or Monday/Wednesday. Students will also have the opportunity to sign up for golf meets they wish to attend. On days when there are away meets, students who are not attending the meet can attend practice.
Golf practices and home meets are held at Buffalo Heights Golf Course. Students will need to be picked up from the golf course after all practices and home meets. On days there are away meets, students will be bussed from BCMS to the away course. After the meet, they will be bussed back to BCMS where they will need to be picked up by a parent/guardian.
General Information:
All BCMS sport practices run Monday through Thursday, 3:30–5 pm, except on days they have games.
Games are scheduled with other area local schools and schedules can be found at www.Mississippi8.org.
Most sports practice for the first week and then teams are decided by coaches. Most sports have an “A” team and a “B” team. NO ONE ever gets cut from a team.
On game days, the A team plays first on Mondays and Tuesdays and the B team plays first on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Athletes are bused from BCMS to away games and bused back to BCMS. You may bring your child home from an away game, but you must notify the coach before you leave the away game.
Any announcements pertaining to sports, (i.e. game location changes, time changes, game or practice cancellations) will be posted on our BCMS website under BCMS Announcements.
Students are able to use the locker room/lockers but must use a BCMS lock.
Uniforms are loaned to students during the season and are expected to be returned at the end of the season.
