Senior Local and Area Scholarships

It's never too early to explore scholarship opportunities. Details will be posted as new scholarship information becomes available.

 

  • First Generation Initiative Scholarship St. Mary’s           Deadline January 30           St. Mary’s is dedicated to providing vital academic and comprehensive financial support to first generation college students who originate from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.    FGI Scholarship Application

 

  • Visual Arts Scholarship Concordia College - Moorhead     Deadline February 1       Incoming first-year student accepted for admission to Concordia.  Exhibit proficiency or intense interest in painting, sculpture, printmaking, drawing, photography, ceramics or art history. Visual Arts Application

 

  • Horatio Alger National/State Scholarship           Deadline March 1            Our programs, which are targeted to students who have faced significant adversity in their lives and demonstrate critical financial need ($65,000 or lower adjusted gross family income), is now for high school juniors (Class of 2026)! The Horatio Alger Association awards scholarships to 105 National Scholars in the amount of $25,000 and over 800 State Scholars in the amount of $10,000. HAA also offers some “Targeted Scholarships” to seniors (Class of 2025). Check the HAA website for more details, with special attention to the Denny Sanford Scholarship for seniors wanting to attend the University of MN-Twin Cities.      Horatio Alger National/State Scholarship

 

  • Harvey Buchholz Legacy            Deadline March 31                One $1,000 scholarship will be awarded to a high school senior who resides or attends a high school in Minnesota.  Harvey’s legacy encourages all to “Give like Harvey” and to educate others on volunteerism and the importance of servicing the community.   Harvey Buchholz Legacy

 

  • Wright-Hennepin Cooperative Electric Association Local Scholarship     Deadline April 20          Preference given to a recipient not having been awarded another community scholarship and based on economic need. Requirements: Recipient's parent(s) or guardian(s) must be members of WH - include current account number on application.   • Alert Magazine Scholarship      With each edition of Alert magazine we award a $500 college scholarship to the writer of the best drug and/or alcohol abuse-related essay that is received for that state/region.  Alert Magazine

                            UNDERCLASSMEN SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITIES

  • Minnesota Association of Townships        Deadline June 1             MAT will award up to five $2,000 scholarships to high school juniors.  Participants will submit a written essay on the topic of the role of townships in local government.  MN Townships

MCIS (Minnesota Career Information System) - Financial Aid Sort uses your criteria to help you find awards that you may qualify for. It is an exploratory tool that can be used more than once. Students can locate the sort by logging into their account and clicking on the "Education" tab to locate "Financial Aid Sort." All BHS students have access to this site.  For log in information see your counselor.
